Mountain biking

We know, we know. We hear it all the time: "There are no mountains in Illinois!" Well, that may be the case, but there are some really great trails in the Chicago area and surrounding region. You just have to know where to look, which is maybe where we come in. The mountain bike team for XXX Racing-AthletiCo is committed to getting riders out on the trails and out racing. We ride the dirt every chance we get and do what we can to get others to hit the trails as well.

Our racing is focused on the Wisconsin Off-Road Series (WORS). It includes some of the closest races to Chicago and represents as good racing as you will find anywhere. From a beginner looking to get into racing to a seasoned pro, if you are not doing any of the WORS races you are missing out on some of the best racing in the country.

Other races we focus on are the 24-Hour National Championships, WEMS, DINO and even some of the Michigan races (read: The Iceman Cometh).

We lead dirt rides at Palos Forest Preserve and on the Des Plaines Trail. The rides will to an extent be weather dependent. Some days the trails are just too muddy to ride responsibly. But, hey, a little rain stops nothing in this city, so why should it for us? With the team road ride on Saturday, the XXX Racing-AthletiCo Mountain bike ride is held on Sundays. And remember, kids, helmets are NOT optional. Rides and departure times will be announced via the team calendar, which will be updated frequently.

Palos rides will meet at the Bull Frog Lake parking lot.

Des Plaines River Trail rides will meet at Logan Square. From there we will ride as a group out to the trails. No Drop. When we get to the trails we will make every effort to ride together. At the end of the ride, all riders will be responsible for finding their own way home.
