Wow! What an awesome month April was! April kicked off with the Spring Super Criterium, a new event hosted in excellent fashion by our friends at Burnham Racing. Such a great race demanded great racing, and we delivered, with top-five finishes from Calvin Smythe, Peter Strittmatter, John Tomlinson and Tamara Fraser. Elsewhere that day, Peter Allen and Tricia Berg were placing at the John Fraser Memorial Time Trial, and Depaul student Sean Piper was winning a collegiate race at Purdue. Two weeks later, Tamara Fraser and Gigi Norcross headed to Wisconsin to bring home top-10 finishes at the Great Dane Criterium, and Peter Strittmatter delivered our first USCF win of the year by winning the 4's race while John Tomlinson got 5th out of a break in the 3's race. Finally we sent a large contingent to this weekend's Whitnall Park Criterium, where Tamara Fraser placed 2nd in the women's 4's and Luke Seemann matched Tomlinson by also getting 5th in a Cat 3 breakaway. Our dirtbags have been busy, too. At the season-opening Do the Rock Mountain Bike Race, Greg Heck and Keith Ortiz both placed in the top four in their categories, and Alex Grohman, sporting his new Gary Fisher 29er, placed 2nd in his juniors category. On top of all this podium time, we also saw dozens of new racers toe the line for the first time, and we're excited to see them develop over the year. There's a lot more great racing to come, and we can't wait to enjoy more great results.
